About Brian Kelly
Brian Kelly is married to the former Patricia Piotroski and the couple resides in Northeastern Pennsylvania as they have all their married life of thirty-five years. They are the proud parents of three adult children, Brian, Michael, and Katie.
Brian Kelly was born and "raised" in Wilkes-Barre PA. He attended St. Boniface Grade School and Meyers High School. At Meyers, he was a member of the National Honor Society and on the sports side, Brian was both a pitcher and a catcher on the Meyers High Baseball team. He was also active in many school clubs as well as the student council.
He won an academic scholarship to King's College and with the help of a National Defense Student Loan, and the Work-Study Program he graduated cum Laude with a degree in Data Processing, the pre-cursor degree to Business Information Technology. While at King's, Kelly was a member of two honor societies, the King's Aquinas Society, and the Delta Epsilon Sigma National Honor Society. Brian played varsity Baseball for the Monarchs as a catcher and then as a starting pitcher in his Junior and Senior years.
After King's, he joined the IBM Corporation as a Computer Science Systems Assistant where he spent 23 years before retiring, under a special program, as a Senior Systems Engineer. During his IBM career, Kelly received his M.B.A. in Accounting and Finance from Wilkes University. After his time at IBM (23 years), Brian accepted a position with College Misericordia as its Technology Manager / Internal IT Consultant. At the same time, he initiated his own IT consulting practice, Kelly Consulting.
After building the College Misericordia campus network, its connection to the Internet, its email and its Web servers, Kelly left College Misericordia and moved on to spend full time in his own IT business consulting practice. In 2004, Kelly joined the faculty of Marywood University and, in addition to maintaining his consulting practice; Kelly served Marywood as an Assistant Professor of Business Information Technology.until his retirement in May 2011.

Brian Kelly retired as a 30-year IBM Midrange Systems Engineer in 1999, having cut his eye teeth in 1969 on the System/3 and later with IBM's Communication Control program (CCP.) While with IBM, Kelly was a Certified Instructor and a Mid-Atlantic Area Designated Specialist. Brian takes pride in having unveiled the powerful IBM AS/400 System at Marywood University in June,1988 to a crowd of 300 IT professionals.
When IBM began to move its sales and support to Business Partners, he formed Kelly Consulting in 1992 as an IT education and consulting firm. Kelly developed numerous AS/400 professional courses over the years that range from soup to nuts. He has written 44 books and numerous magazine articles about current IT topics, including articles for The Four Hundred, Midrange Computing, Showcase, News/400, AS/400 Systems Management, AS/400 Internet Expert, and others.

In addition to being an author as noted above, Kelly is a frequent speaker at National Computer Meetings and he has been a featured speaker at various technical conferences and local computer group meetings across the United States. In May, 2011, Kelly retired as Assistant Professor from the Business Information Technology program at Marywood University in Dunmore PA. During his time at Marywood, King's and other colleges and universities, Brian developed and taught a number of college courses in the Business / IT discipline.
