Politicians Are Liars
When I complain about the government, it is not the regular American people who are employed in the process of government that are the issue, it is clearly the leadership. It begins with the President and then Congress and then the entrenched high level bureaucrats. The fact is that Government by itself produces nothing, period. It does create huge bureaucracies of mostly unneeded people, which deprive those who pay their salaries of the liberty os spending their own money.
Government takes and squanders. It mismanages and corrupts while it seeks full control. That is why the founding fathers wanted limited government. Politicians are liars. Under liars in the dictionary is a compaosite peicture of your favorite politicians. As W. C. Fields would say, they have made prevarication an Art. Government is made up of politicians. The Government lies frequently to achieve its objectives.
When the government creates government jobs, who pays for these jobs? They are paid for by an already overtaxed private economy -- by you and by me. Does it not make perfect sense that government would seek to expand its payroll since every new bureaucrat becomes a likely advocate for even bigger government and the entrenched politician and bureaucrats become even more powerful.
Here is a conundrum with which to wrestle. Are those working for the government and collecting a regular check from the government more likely to see the President as their boss rather than as a representative of their interests? Will they follow his commands or will they treat him as somebody who must listen to them as citizens of the nation?
Regular Americans -- that's YOU and I -- have not demanded that the government create all these government jobs. Why would anybody want to pay for the creation of a bogus job so that somebody else could say they are working. There is a perspective shared by Ron Paul that almost all government jobs are bogus. Nobody in their right mind would chip in, and create a "cush" managed by the government to hire the friends and relatives of high ranking bureaucrats. .Ron Paul suggests that "the more the burden, the closer the government parasite comes to killing its host." Has our government become a parasite? Some may say it always has been but the snakes now somehow think it is safe to be seen in public.
Government creates problems not solutions
The big problems with our health care system as noted in other essays on this site are not because government has not intervened but because government has intervened, has distorted reality, and has performed in its usaually poor manner. The hand of government was all over the healthcare system of today -- pre Obamacare. The US needs less, not more regulation. Carrying the government around on one's back, with each step gets more and more difficult. The major healthcare issues such as preexisting conditions and insurance maximums are solved in the Obamacare bill but they would have been solved in less intrusive legislation blocked from being introduced by government parasites wanting control of our lives.
As a Democrat I am ashamed to say that the Republicans had a better healthcare idea. In business, we learn to KISS early. Keep it simple, Stupid. The hard-left elements of the Democratic party would not accept healthcare reform and improvement as a goal. They wanted full government control and that is already lilling any potential effectiveness of their healthcare bill. Moreover, trying to arrest control of the ogovernment from the people may also compromise the Democratic party for years to come. Moreover, to get what they wanted the Democrats in Congress, used the old tricks of the politician and they are still using tricks to explain away what they did. They simply lied to the American people.
It would have taken a substantially smaller effort to solve the real problems with healthcare without the huge bureaucracy coming your way soon. When I read the Republican plan, there was no need for 16,000 new IRS agents or a trillion dollars in financing or a $600 billion theft from Medicare. What an absolutely unpleasant gift to the American people. Anybody who adds just one additional IRS agent should never be re-elected. In fact, they ought to be impeached. The people do not like the IRS.
Why does the whole healthcare system have to spin in chaos and why do you have to give up your insurance and why does Medicare have to be depleted for the hard-left to be satisfied? Does anybody really want big government in control?
More than likely we all agree that increased government regulation on anything creates rising costs and red tape. Red tape itself is a major cost that must be born by business twice. They must pay the processing costs in their companies and then must pay for the bureaucrats to create the red tape rules and to process the red tape. Remember, the government earns no income -- it merely confiscates the income of others. So, when it pays for something, well, as you know, somebody, a regular Joe, is actually paying. They take your money to pay for their ideas.
The failure of past government policies has contributed the most to what is now perceived to be the failure of the health care market. Nobody wants to discuss the fact that percentage-wise, the government (Medicare and Medicaid) denies more treatment than any other provider of "insurance." Medicare and Medicaid tell twice as many that their tests and procedures are not covered. That is a fact. So, why would we give the whole system to these people?
Adding 30 million citizens who are uninsured or underinsured does not make the market stronger. Adding another 30 million when the illegals are granted Amnesty will hurt the country even more. That will be 60 million people that you have to pay for. I don't want to pay for them because, among other reasons, they already have coverage under EMTALA. If you are scoring at home folks, this makes the situation much worse. Adding 30 million more, formerly classified as illegal foreign nationals, will make healthcare and the debt doubly worse.
As government bureaucracy continues to give preferences and protections to HMOs and trial lawyers, and non-Americans, it surely will be the patients who lose. There is no other America where we can migrate to as our country falls to Socialism.
I am convinced that if the US had control of all the Leprechaun's gold, one would have good reason to speculate that the US would have the pot completely empty by now and we would be trying to sell the pot on the illegal market. You can't give what you haven't got. Eventually somebody has to pay. It will either be the future generations of children and grandchildren and the yet to be born or the country itself will collapse under the weight of its own debt. Will future generations be born in a free America? That is a heavy thought isn't it? So far, it does not look to good.
Government Lies Were Also Big in WWII Germany
Is government lying an innocuous or dangerous proposition? It depends on whether you want to have freedom or you want the state to have power. What part of the Obamacare fiasco do you think was honest. To whom was the Congress lying? They were lying to the American people and we knew they were lying and we were helpless to stop them because the wrong people were in office. This US Congress and this US President are not the first to lie to their people. To get a better perspective of why lying is dangerous to the country, let's take a trip back in time and overseas.
Dr. Paul Joseph Goebbels was a German politician and he advanced in politics until he was the Reich Minister of Propaganda in Nazi Germany. He served from 1933 to 1945. He was one of German Dictator Adolf Hitler's closest associates and most devout followers. He was with Hitler to the end.
The Germans gave Goebbels a title that fit his job -- Minister of Propaganda. Perhaps Minister of Lies would have beeen more appropriate. In the US, we would call him the Minister of Veracity-Challenged Truth or perhaps, some would call him the Whitehouse Press Secretary. Goebbels saw the lie as an important tool of the state. Here are three quotes that make today's American government seem like a place in which Herr Goebbels would be warmly welcomed:
Goebbels Quote 1
“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”
Americans --- Welcome to the new statist America! Do you really think anything from the government in the two months preceding the passage of Obamacare on March 21, 2010 could be called the truth?
Goebbels Quote 2
“The most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly - it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over”
Americans hear this: Hundreds of thousands of jobs have been saved. This bill will reduce the deficit. Does this repeated Obama rhetoric sound familiar?
Goebbels Quote 3
“Think of the press as a great keyboard on which the government can play.”
In this context, some would see President Obama as a fine pianist playing the press with every depression of the keyboard. But, perhaps we give both the "free press" and the President too much credit here. It seems to me that the press in the U.S. is more like a player piano that on its own plays government tunes. For their part, the President and his government, including a complicit Congress can be seen as making the Music rolls for the piano to play.
Many, such as myself believe that the press is not free. If it is free it is so biased that its freedom is imperceptible in its worship of the hard left agenda. The only apparent free press in America, Fox News, is owned by an Australian? I sure hope Obama does not upset the Aussies. They are all we have separating us from a sea of lies.
Goebbels' Quote 4
"It is the absolute right of the State to supervise the formation of public opinion"
Think about President Obama going to Iowa and around the country to explain why Obamacare is so good. Why is he doing that? Who better to supervise the formation of public opinion than the President himself.
By the way, Paul Josef Goebbels and his wife committed suicide before being captured by the allies in 1945. Prior to their suicides, Goebbels' wife killed their six children.
Propaganda does not play well when reality hurts the people.
And, yes, there were four Goebbel quotes. See how easy it is to lie. Don;t get too accustomed to lies or you may stop demanding the tuth to which you are entitled.
